Three of the Nation’s finest youth footballers have been handed a fantastic opportunity at Newcastle United Academy. The players, Javan Philip, Elvis Thomas and Trevaughn Harriete, left the island over the weekend for two weeks of intensive training and assessment, organised through the initiatives of The Soccer Academy.
Chairman of The Soccer Academy Mark G. Bowers said, “Our mission is to expose the best and brightest talents from across the island to opportunities that will better prepare them for a career in football and we are confident that these three boys will do extremely well and make us all proud.”
The Soccer Academy would like to thank Parham and Sap Football Clubs, for readily agreeing to support this programme, as well as their sponsors and individual contributors who provided necessary and valuable support to execute this worthy cause. Further, the enthusiasm of the boys’ parents must be highly commended, as without their critical support none of this would have been possible.
Speaking on behalf of the three players Javan Philip said, “We are excited to get there and we will work hard doing our best. Newcastle United is a big club but this is a challenge we relish”.
The boys were accompanied by Rowan “Porridge” Benjamin, a Senior Soccer Academy Coach.
The Soccer Academy is a newly formed organisation with experienced coaches and administrators to teach football the fun way. Visit our website www.socceracademy2010.com for more information.
