year’s prize money of $3,000US.

Richie Richardson appointed Windies Team Manager

St John’s, Antigua– The West Indies Cricket Board announced the appointment of Richie Richardson as Team Manager of the West Indies Cricket Team.

Richardson, a former West Indies captain and legendary batsman, has been a successful businessman engaged in sport tourism ventures in his native Antigua and Barbuda and the United Kingdom, since his retirement from the game in 1996.

Antigua Cricket Festival leaves the New York Masters unbeaten!

New York Masters Cricket Club beat Antigua Masters by 29 runs to capture the Antigua Barbuda 20/20 International Masters Cricket Fest 2010 and ended the competition unbeaten.

Batting first, NYM made 141 for 7 off 20 overs. Dixeth Palmer achieved 48 and Charles Walker 36 not out. Wince Smith took two wickets for 19 runs, Alva Joseph 2 for 39, C Frederick 1 for 23 and Vaughn Walsh 1 for 24.

In reply Antigua Masters were bowled out for 114 in 19.4 overs. R Browne struck 24 not out.

Dixeth Palmer captured 3 for 10; Shad Kham 3 for 19 and Hardy James 2 for 28.

Antigua to host matches on South African tour

Antigua and Barbuda will host four matches during South Africa’s tour of the West Indies next month after the country was originally excluded as a venue because of the one-year ban imposed on the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground (SVRCG) following the ill-fated 10-ball Test match against England last year.

The disclosure was made in release by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) yesterday in which it announced the new schedule for the upcoming Digicel Series between West Indies and South Africa from 19 May to 30 June.

Women to play exhibition 20-20 match

St. John's, Antigua: Women's hard ball cricket in Antigua will get a tremendous boost when two All-Star teams take to the field and play a 20-20 hardball Exhibition match on Sunday, March 07, 2010 at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium. 22 women from various soft ball cricket clubs across Antigua have risen to the challenge and spent the last six weeks building on their cricket skills by attending practice session three times a week at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium. This highly anticipated match will bring the curtain down on the first Kenny Benjamin Community Cricket Festival.
