June 15, 2009 … Come, Tuesday June 16, 2009 individuals wishing to become involved in the agricultural sector would be a step closer to receiving assistance when they meet with financiers and other technical officers at a Micro-Financing Seminar for Agriculture and Agro –Industry.

This, seminar set for the Fisheries Division, Point Wharf, at 9 am seeks to improve farm businesses, the National Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Food Security.

“This is an opportunity for farmers, Agro-processors, Fisher folks and members of the public to meet with representatives’ of financial institution to seek ways in which they could source a loan to venture in agriculture,” said Extension Officer Owolabi Elabanjo.

So far, the ministry has received confirmation from several banks that would be at hand to address the stakeholders and other interested parties.

Down to address the gathering are the Minister of Agriculture, Lands, Housing & The Environment Hilson Baptiste, The Director of Agriculture Jennifer Maynard and Deputy Director Jedidiah Maxime among others.
